Tommy and I spent this Black Friday (our FIRST Black Friday) as Americans should, and boy do we like this tradition. Tom and I started the day at 10:30a.m. and 11:00a.m., respectively; Tom heated up left-over potato soup from our Thanksgiving feast at the Houston's last night and made some crostini to go along (isn't that cute?) while I heated up some eggnog for our coffee (oh how I long for eggnog in my coffee the second it's sweater weather!) It was delicious and we read. After "brunch", I'll call it, we braved the store! Although when it's past noon and the store is Saint Vinny's (where there were no seasonal sales to speak of) it's less "braving" and more "just going". But we did come home with mass riches! I got clothes (yes sir) and Tom got books, of course. Very little was done about Christmas gifts, though some was done, and I bought yarn which always has potential (although it is not usually found through my efforts). I got a jet black chenille, but can't think of a decent way to accomplish goth-knit; I also got this insane looking stuff that is so soft I'm thinking of sleeping with it tonight. Tom and I spent the exact same amount of money, to the dollar, which made me feel better about me $13 jeans (though I already felt pretty good about them). Wishes were granted in my find of a $10 black hooded Carhartt bomber for Tommy. Apparently Carhartt clothing is indestructible, but Tom will be the ultimate test of that. I got some very nice and strange things for myself and I think I got the shopping urge quelled for at least long enough to get through finals. When we came home I cooked the extra green beans I made the night before and we ate them with cold L.O. turkey - It felt just like real Thanksgiving-time. If anyone is confused about the fact that I made green beans, you should be, but don't worry Tom's gone back to doing the cooking already and even took over part of the cutting-up-fruit-and-bringing-it-out-on-a-little-plate-as-a-surprise job. As for the rest of our first Black Friday Tom has finally laid aside his book to play a video game and I have been doing everything I can think of to avoid my 4-page Sociology assignment: rolling yarn, hanging pictures, talking on the phone (!), writing my first blog entry. Everything but washing the dishes from those darned green beans (I used many). But seeing as all my yarn is in neat balls, I can't decide about the rest of my pictures, I refuse to talk on the phone more than once a day and this blog entry is over (and I'm still not willing to clean up the kitchen) I guess it's back to the paper... but first I'm going to have some more eggnog.
