In my stocking this Christmas was, among other things, the ever-hoped-for and always-delivered Powell's gift card. I couldn't make up my mind when we were in Portland what to spend it on (Tom and sister-in-law Mindy are much better at that then I am) but by the time I'd got home to Springfield I'd nearly decided. A while after that I made up my mind for sure and ordered online the following books...
Poser I had read about before my trip to Powell's, but it wasn't until recently that it was on sale. So I figured I'd go ahead and buy it in hardback and hope for the best. Book-buying risks don't usually prove fruitful for me.

I've read a few chapters last night and this more morning and I am excited to continue. So far it is fun and interesting to a fellow female, white, educated, Northwesterner like me in the market for a baby, a writing career for my husband, and an embarkation into a lifetime of yoga for myself. I'm hoping (and sort of planning) to start doing some yoga soon and I think this will spur me towards it even more. That and the fact that my closest friend from 6th grade, who I saw for the first time in 12 years the other day, is interested in beginning with me.
I'll keep you posted on that and the book.
The Anti-Inflammation Diet, while slightly less exciting, is one I am also anxious to read. Mindy has to follow this diet to the letter to keep her feeling well (or well-ish) and I'm expecting it to do some good for Tom and I too. If nothing else I want to try it out as a show of solidarity.
But the recipes and the benefits sound pretty good. Maybe there's a whole new lifestyle in my future.

Not my near future however - Tom made enough lasagna last night to kill an elephant (we're keeping it away from elephants, though; don't worry). It also suggests I give up juice and that... that I just don't know about.
Or maybe true happiness is being uninflamed. I don't know. Not yet anyway. I'll keep you posted on that too.
