Today I took the early-morning Greyhound up to Corvallis to see my best friend from college Alicia, or as I always call her: Lish. (And she calls me D. And we did not plan that.)
These pictures aren't from today, we were too busy staying hydrated and finding bathrooms today to take any pictures.
Oh, yeah, and catching up before she moves to California for maybe the rest of her life.
These are from when she came to visit at the old apartment but the idea is the same.
We love each other.
I also must post this picture from my wedding, because I love it. Can you even stand how sweet she and my Grandpa look listening to whatever I'm saying? Uh! I love the people in my life.
Lish has been so busy with graduate school and her very-long-distance boyfriend and it was great to have breakfast and lunch together and just talk about whatever. It was a lot like old times, except now when we talk about "boys" we talk about houses, babies, communication, etc. I love that our relationship has grown up with us and that we'll be friends forever.
Despite rarely seeing her when she was 45 minutes away I will miss her more when she moves to California and my hope of seeing her is all but gone. But there is always the future, when we'll do vacations out-of-state and our kids will play together. (You better believe I dreamed about babies as I napped on the ride back to Eugene.)
I've got good friends. And good times ahead.
Congratulations, Lish. I hope California is better than ever this time!

It sounds like you and Lish will be friends forever -- and let's face it, those are the best kind!
Oh my gosh, D, that is the sweetest post ever!!! It was so good to see you the other day and I only wish we could do every day like that!! I'm so glad that we have one of those friendships where we can pick up right where we left off, never skipping a beat. I love you, D, and you will be the first to know when I'm coming home to visit...after my parents, of course :P
