This is a perfect time to talk about what way I would like to improve. There are a lot of things I can think of but they are things I am better and worse about at different times. One thing I've been pretty consistent with is my drawing ability and it is what I would like to see change for the consistent better.
Yesterday I had my first day of drawing. I'd never drawn with hunks of burnt wood before or done anything on an easel. It was an impromptu, informal exercise; only half of the class stayed to do it. I drew this:
Don't blame me if you can't tell what it is! They were strange objects. There is a pine cone in there and a cheese grater (it's not where you'd think!). Mostly I focused on the drapery. I made it look super eighties/wonderful like it came out of Aha's Take On Me video.
Apparently my instructor can tell I'm a total novice, but she did have a surprising encouraging word at the end of the hour. And after the 12+ hours she promises we'll be drawing each week I have some hope for my artistic future.
School is going to be a whole new thing this term. I've been going all day. I got home at 8 and fortunately Tom made dinner. I am very excited but I know I'm going to have to be diligent. Slacking off does not mean feeling bad about your A this term, it means you might not pass and graduate. At least all my professors have me convinced of this so far. Good for them.
I'm to bed now after a BIG ole cuppa tea. And maybe setting up coffee and Tom's lunch for tomorrow, depending on what all that rustling around in the kitchen he's doing is.
G'night!
