Day twenty six

I've gotten behind - I have been busy. I'm taking time out of my school work schedule to catch up for the sake of my mental health. I really care about keeping up on my blog. Also if I lose control of my blog it's one more thing to stress out about. (I had a teeth-falling-out dream the other night!)

Yesterday was Lane's 25th birthday and we (Tom, Lane and I) celebrated together with the best burgers in town, followed by the best cake in town, followed by a long game of Agricola, watching this (thanks, Thomas Pendell), listening to new-to-me music courtesy of Tom and Lane, respectively, and in my case: dreaming of dancing. And actually dancing a little. And singing. And in general being outrageous and laughing so hard at my own jokes that I was in pain.

But last night, and this post, are not about me. Really, I swear! Because the something that means a lot to me is the friendship of my best friends.
Here's why: I am so blessed by how much they enjoy each others' company.
I enjoy so much how different they are and when they have things in common with each other that I don't share with them, it's very rewarding to know that through me God brought them together and that such good comes of that. It's wonderful how much they meet in the middle.
I love that they like to listen to all kinds of music and that their interests there overlap in fun ways.
I love that they both like to play board games together and watch Hayao Miyasaki films.
I love that I'm almost always there! But that I don't need to be for them to spend time together.

Lane has brothers, and Tom, sisters, and I know they appreciate each other in a way that I'll never understand because of their easy familiarity with the opposite sex.

I love the way they talk about each other sometimes to me. It makes me appreciate them both that much more, for saying sweet things and from hearing sweet things said about them. And for liking each other! To me it speaks very highly of their tastes and opinions.

I love when they're proud of each other.

I had a great time last night.

Happy 25th, Lane!

You make me so happy!
